Bacoside
Triterpenoid saponins in Bacopa monnieri. The fraction standardized extracts report by percent.
Plain language
The active fraction in Bacopa. Trials use extracts standardized to 50 percent bacosides at 300 mg per day, run for 8 to 12 weeks. Buying anything less standardized or at a lower dose is buying weak signal.
Definition
Bacosides are a group of triterpenoid saponins (bacoside A, bacoside B, and related compounds) extracted from Bacopa monnieri. They are the standardization marker for Bacopa supplements: the most-cited trials use extracts standardized to 50 percent total bacosides at a daily dose of roughly 300 mg, taken for 8 to 12 weeks before judging cognitive effects.
